How Chamber Connections Turn Into Opportunities for Splendora ISD Students

For the Splendora ISD Education Foundation, Chamber membership has become much more than attending events. It has helped create relationships that turn community support into opportunities for students and educators.
The Foundation was created to help implement and elevate educational opportunities in Splendora ISD by building dynamic community partnerships and raising and investing funds. For Foundation Director Katie Key, the Greater EMC Chamber has provided an important place for many of those partnerships to begin.

“One of the biggest wins for the Splendora ISD Education Foundation has truly been the relationships built through the Greater EMC Chamber,” Katie said.
Those relationships have connected the Foundation with Chamber members including Signorelli Company, Community Resource Credit Union, Entergy Texas, STX Roofing and many others. Their support has helped strengthen Foundation events such as Men Who Cook, Purse Bingo and the Golf Tournament, while also supporting classroom grants, student programs, scholarships and district-wide initiatives.

Sometimes the impact is especially personal. Through one Chamber connection, Page Cherry with Visibly Illustrated stepped in as a volunteer for the Foundation’s summer reading efforts, which give students opportunities to enjoy activities while keeping learning going during the summer.
Katie says those connections have developed throughout her Chamber involvement, whether at a Monthly Luncheon, Leading Ladies Luncheon, Business Networking Breakfast or another Chamber gathering.

For her, seeing businesses across different industries rally around students and educators has been both enlightening and encouraging.
“I’m proud that people still want to support public education,” Katie said.
But perhaps the most important part of Katie’s Chamber experience is that the relationships are not simply transactional.
“Relationships can be built without just a business relationship in mind,” she said. “Long-term relationships are important, and the Chamber gives you a way to create those connections. With the right people coming alongside you, you can see visions come true with more help than you imagined.”

For the Splendora ISD Education Foundation, that is the value of showing up, participating and investing in relationships throughout our region. A conversation at a Chamber event can become a volunteer, a supporter, a partner and, ultimately, another opportunity to make a difference for students.
That's a Wednesday Chamber Win worth celebrating.
