The Best Connections Don’t Start With a Business Card

The Greater EMC Chamber welcomed women from across the region to The Atrium Center in New Caney for its July Leading Ladies Luncheon, presented by Memorial Hermann Northeast. Against a vibrant Caribbean-inspired backdrop, attendees enjoyed an afternoon designed to strengthen relationships, celebrate leadership, and encourage women to lift one another higher.

From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere invited conversation. Tropical décor, stunning centerpieces by Flowers of Kingwood, a lush photo booth by Dynamic Entertainment Productions, and a Caribbean-inspired lunch prepared by G&G's Catering & Desserts created an experience that felt equal parts professional development and summer celebration.

The program opened with an interactive partner activity that encouraged attendees to look beyond job titles and business cards by sharing the experiences, mentors, and life lessons that shaped their leadership journeys. The conversations quickly transformed a room full of professionals into a room full of connections.

Emceed by Tracie Kamenoff, the luncheon also featured guest presenters Nikki Roux and Dr. Kristen Berg Owens before keynote speaker Meagan McCoy Jones, President and CEO of McCoy's Building Supply, took the stage. Her presentation, Strengthening Culture: How We Help Each Other, challenged attendees to think beyond personal success and instead focus on creating workplaces where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow. Through authentic stories and practical leadership insights, Jones reminded the audience that the strongest cultures are built when leaders intentionally invest in others.

The afternoon concluded with the always-popular Prizes with Purpose raffle, featuring luxury prize packages generously donated by Elite Hospital Kingwood, J&R's Ace Hardware, and Prudential Financial Advisors – David Harris. Guests also had the opportunity to take home the tropical floral centerpieces that helped bring the event theme to life.

If the July luncheon proved anything, it's that Leading Ladies is more than just a networking event. It's a community of women committed to growing together. The next Leading Ladies Luncheon is scheduled for October 27, and if you missed this one, you'll want to clear your calendar now. Seats fill quickly, and the conversations that happen around these tables continue long after the luncheon ends.
